Floating EVA Foam fender is an extremely strong floating fender crafted by Luhang's professional engineers. They take advantage of the compressibility and elasticity of air to ensure highly consistent performance. These versatile fenders are able to withstand harsh environments and maintain significant clearance between the hull and the dock or other vessels.
The foam fender consists of a closed cell polyethylene foam core and an outer layer reinforced with polyurethane elastomer. The closed cell foam structure eliminates the possibility of puncture. Each cell is independent, so water cannot penetrate into the foam. Even after years of active service, foam cores can be sent back to the factory, re-coated with a new layer of skin and ready for a new life cycle.
In ports, foam fenders serve as crucial protective facilities. They can effectively mitigate the impact force on dock structures when ships berth. Whether it's large cargo ships or small vessels, during the berthing process, they may cause varying degrees of collision to the wharf. Luhang Foam Fenders are manufactured to a system which is compliant with ISO 9001: 2000. We have also recently received a favourable CCS and BV inspection report on our manufacturing process, and have obtained independent laboratory-verified data on the materials we use and the performance under compression of certain fender sizes.
B. Performance and Characteristics
The high energy absorption and low reaction forces of Hippo foam fenders mean that the berthing speed of the vessel is cushioned upon contact with the fender - rather than the fender causing the vessel to bounce off it violently. This can be particularly important during inclement weather conditions.

Our flexible manufacturing process allows us to build virtually any size of fender. Fender colours are typically black or orange – but the polyurethane coating can be mixed and applied in any colour required. The standard core density is 70kg/m – but we an offer higher core densities upon request.

Whether on the quayside or floating in the water, Hippo fenders are easy to handle and install. In the event of minor skin damage, this can be repaired easily and economically with a range of Luhang repair kits. Should extra protection be required, Hippo fenders can be supplied with chain and tyre nets.
